John McDonagh, Plimoth Plantation Director, Elected to Statewide Board

The Massachusetts Association for the Arts, Sciences and Humanities-Education (MAASH-Ed) is pleased to announce the election of John McDonagh, Executive Director of Plimoth Plantation, to its state wide board of directors. Mr. McDonagh is a recognized leader in the cultural community around the state and is known nationally for his development work at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC.
"We are pleased to have John join us," Executive Director Dan Hunter said, "He is a distinguished leader for museums across the nation and is an active community leader on the South Shore. We welcome his expertise and skill."
Mr. McDonagh also serves on the board of directors for the Plymouth (MA) Area Chamber of Commerce and is a founding director of the Massachusetts Cultural Coast, a campaign to promote tourism in the southeastern region of Massachusetts.
MAASH-Ed is the sister organization to MAASH, the Massachusetts Advocates for the Arts, Sciences and Humanities, a state wide advocacy organization that represents the interests of the cultural community-from individual artists to local cultural councils to all size of cultural organizations-on Beacon Hill.
Plimoth Plantation is a bicultural living history museum dedicated to the Native Wampanoag and colonial English of 17th-Century Plimoth Colony. The museum is located an hour south of Boston in Plymouth, MA (Exit 4, Route 3 south) and 20 minutes north of Cape Cod. Plimoth Plantation is open daily from 9 am, to 5 pm, 7 days a week, from March 22 through the end of November. The museum is a private, non-profit educational institution supported by admission fees, contributions, memberships, function sales and revenue from the varied dining programs/services and museum shops. Plimoth Plantation is a Smithsonian Institution Affiliate.
