Advocate for Cultural Funding Today!
Contact Your State Representative
Jan. 25, 2008
Dear Friends,
Now is the time to contact your state legislators to ask for their support for two separate appropriations:
- $13 million for the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund in the MassDevelopment budget (Section 58)
- Support for the Massachusetts Cultural Council (line item 0600-0340)
Individual legislators are submitting their budget requests now as the state budget for next year (FY 09 which runs from July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009) is being drafted. Your consistent advocacy is essential-the state faces a $1.3 billion shortfall and a possible national recession. Investing in cultural facilities and supporting arts and culture through the MCC will generate need revenue. These appropriations support jobs, education and our communities. Please send your message today.

Please customize your message as much as possible-use your own words to describe how facilities funding is vital for your community and how you or your organization benefit from MCC funding.
MAASH, the Boston Foundation and the MCC are advocating for a $13 million appropriation and the MCC is requesting a $6.3 million increase to its budget.
Thank you for your support.
