Senate Debate on $250 million in Cultural Facilities Funding Begins Tomorrow

Dear Advocates,

We need your action today!

The Senate Ways and Means Committee just released the Senate’s version of the economic stimulus bill, Senate 2256.  We are very pleased to report that the Senate bill includes the cultural facilities funding that we successfully advocated for in the House of Representatives--$250 million in cultural facilities funding over the next 10 years.

We thank Senate President Robert Travaglini, Senate Ways and Means Chairwoman Therese Murray, Senator Jack Hart, Senator Stan Rosenberg and Senate Ways and Means Committee Vice-Chairman, Senator Steven Panagiotakos for their leadership in recognizing the value of state cultural facilities funding.

The Senate will vote tomorrow.  Please contact your State Senator now to urge him or her to support cultural facilities funding by voting in favor of Senate 2256.

Working in a coalition with the Boston Foundation and the MCC, MAASH has been advocating for this legislation for two years. If it passes it will become the landmark legislation—the largest state investment in cultural facilities in the nation. Thanks.
